The Guild of Master Locksmiths offer a range of training courses at our Cornwall training facility CDLT. Our training room is based in Newquay at Trethiggey Park where we also offer a range of accommodation for students. You can choose from our main courses for beginner locksmiths to advanced locksmith training courses through to UPVC and Muti Point Course, lock picking to fitting courses or choose an all in one complete package. Types of Training We Offer
Standard Course: A standard Course is training in locksmithing or a subject which is part of the locksmith industry. Often these are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 7 day long courses that are taken in a row or split up over a number of weeks.
Standard courses are in small classroom with up to 6 students per class.
Standard Business Course: A Standard Business Course This is the locksmith training required to work as a locksmiths in the UK to a level 3 award. Often these are 5 & 7 day long courses that are taken in a row or split up over a number of weeks and include a online training program taking the total length of training up to 15 weeks. That's 5 to 7 days hands on and 14 weeks at home training. This course takes place in a small classroom with up to 6 students per class.
Full Business Course: A Full Business Course This is the locksmith training required to work as a locksmiths in the UK to a level 4 award. Often these are 5, 7 & 14 day long courses that are taken in a row or split up over a number of weeks and include a online locksmith training program taking the total length of training up to 15 weeks. That's 5 to 14 days of hands on and 14 weeks at locksmith home training. You then enrol into our business course where you learn how to operate a locksmith business in the UK. You will have a custom website built, logo designed, all legal taken care off and you will end the training with a fully operational locksmith business.
This course takes place in a small classroom with up to 6 students per class.
Which Course is Best?
It depends on your end goal. If you a complete beginner with little skill then you will want to undertake either Standard Locksmith Business Course which is 15 weeks in total. This is all of the locksmith training you need to operate a locksmith business without the business training. This is ideal if you already have a business such as joinery and want to add locksmithing to your skill sets and sell them on your existing website. However if you do not have a website or any business skills then you will require a Full Business Course. This will give you 15 weeks of locksmith training and 15 weeks of business training along with having a custom website built, logos designed, you will basically have a business at the end of the course.
